This Denver Broncos 2022 Mock Draft addresses the front seven early and grabs a mid-round quarterback prospect.

The Denver Broncos had a dream start to their 2020 season, ripping off three straight wins to gain early momentum. Teddy Bridgewater had a great start as well, looking more confident throwing it deep while the defense suffocated opponents. However, that should’ve felt like a formality agains the Giants, Jaguars, and Jets. Once the Steeles, Raiders, and Ravens came calling, the honeymoon phase ended quick. After a loss against the woefully undermanned Browns, it might be time to look towards the 2022 NFL Draft.

The quarterback position will of course dominate the conversation, as Bridgewater and Drew Lock aren’t the answer. The Broncos could look at the bridge route with plenty of veterans potentially hitting free agency. Passing in the first round might be the right move considering the looks of the quarterback class at the moment.

Still, the team definitely has other needs. Tackle should be addressed in the offseason, as should the front seven. With Courtland Sutton set to hit free agency, receiver might again be something to monitor.

With needs and areas to fill in some depth, now is a great time to dive in and look at how the Broncos could attack the 2022 NFL Draft in this mock draft!

Round 1, 12th Overall: George Karlaftis, EDGE, Purdue

Edge rusher is going to be a popular position to mock the Denver Broncos, as the Von Miller era could potentially be over after the 2021 season. Finding a consistent performer opposite Bradley Chubb will likely be a focal point for this organization and coaching staff, should they stick around.

George Karlaftis isn’t as hyped as a couple other first round talents, but he’s every bit as good. Karlaftis is racking up pressures throughout Big Ten play in 2021, and even though his tackles for loss and sack numbers aren’t at the level of his freshman season, he’s still playing with excellent hand usage, a more improved and efficient get-off, and the hot motor hasn’t gone anywhere. There are even teams (like Illinois) triple-teaming him at times. He’d inject some fire into that Broncos defense.
