Round 2, 46th Overall: David Bell, WR, Purdue

Whether Robinson is dealt or not, he’s probably gone after the season. This Chicago Bears team is in dire need of a WR1 to help Fields out in the passing game, and they find one here with their first 2022 pick.

David Bell is having a phenomenal year for the Purdue Boilermakers, highlighted of course by his 11-catch, 240-yard performance in Purdue’s upset of Iowa. He’s surpassed the 100 yard mark in four of his seven games this season, and is averaging 16 yards per reception, the highest of his collegiate career. Bell isn’t the most dynamic receiver, but he can separate with good footwork, hand usage, and he can win vertically down the field. Bell is the all-around receiver the Bears need.

Round 3, 77th Overall: Abraham Lucas, OT, Washington State

Yes, it’s great to hear that both Borom and Jenkins will make their debuts by the middle of November, but continuing to build depth on the offensive line is important. Abraham Lucas is a name that’s been in draft circles for what feels like years, and 2022 looks like the year he finally enters.

Lucas is a rock-solid pass protector with the length and hand usage to keep defenders from getting a hold on his chest and snatching away leverage. He’s got impressive footwork to mirror as well. Lucas isn’t the strongest against the run, but his pass protecting skills should be enough of a calling card for a mid-round pick.
