Round 4, 115th Overall: Jermaine Waller, CB, Virginia Tech

The Kansas City Chiefs secondary is in need of help as well, and the good news is the corner class is deep in the 2022 NFL Draft. Jermaine Waller isn’t getting a ton of buzz yet, but he’s a physical corner who has great ball production. He had 10 pass breakups as a sophomore, and has four interceptions and two pass breakups in 2021. Waller could start opposite L’Jarius Sneed.

Round 6, 209th Overall: Joey Blount, S, Virginia

The safety class is another deep group in the 2022 draft, and the Chiefs have a pair of safeties that are set to hit free agency in 2022. It will be big to have Tyrann Mathieu return, but Daniel Sorensen leaving might be for the best. Joey Blount plays everywhere and has a nose for the football and the size to play in the box.

Round 7, 236th Overall: Leon O’Neal, S, Texas A&M

Double dipping at the safety position? Why not! Leon O’Neal is another safety with great instincts who plays his best football near the box. He also is opportunistic when the ball is near. O’Neal and Blount could both see significant snaps in year one and inject youth into the defense.

Round 7, 239th Overall: Ben Brown, OL, Mississippi

The offensive line got a major upgrade in the 2021 offseason, and both rookies, along with Orlando Brown Jr., have been playing well. The unit hasn’t gelled, but that will come.

The Kansas City Chiefs will still need to build depth at the position, as two guards and two tackles will hit free agency next offseason. Ben Brown is a reliable guard for the Rebels who operates well in pass protection. He’d be a solid depth add this late in the draft.
