Kansas City Chiefs 2022 Mock Draft: Defense Needs A Facelift
The Kansas City Chiefs give their defense a major upgrade in this seven round 2022 mock draft.
It’s been quite a rough start for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2021 season. After an opening week thriller against the Browns, the Chiefs dropped two in a row to the Ravens and Chargers. They struggled against the Bills on Sunday Night Football, and hit rock bottom in Sunday’s loss to the Titans, losing 27-3. The offense sputtered against a Titans defense that has had its own issues.
Sitting at 3-4, the Chiefs can still right the ship, as they have plenty of home games and divisional games to catch up in the wild card race. However, it is likely all for naught, as this team has too many deficiencies on both sides of the ball to get back to the Super Bowl for a third straight year.
What’s behind the rough start? The defense isn’t playing up to par at all, and outside of Chris Jones, no one has really made an impact this season. Frank Clark has disappeared, they aren’t getting pressure, and forcing the secondary to cover for long periods of time won’t work.
Patrick Mahomes is getting unlucky with turnovers, as tipped passes are stalling drives and more turnover-worthy plays that weren’t getting picked in years’ past are this time around. The unit has to be in top shape with the defense giving up chunk plays, so on bad or pedestrian nights, the Chiefs don’t have enough to keep pace.
Kansas City Chiefs 2022 Mock Draft
Right now, the Kansas City Chiefs are putting so much on Mahomes to carry a truly average team, and while he has weapons, teams are forcing this group to sustain mistake-free, 15-play drives and have their way with the Chiefs defense.
The Chiefs need a facelift, especially on defense, and they get that help in this 2022 mock draft. Let’s dive in and look at how things could go in the 2022 NFL Draft.
