Nine Teams that could take a quarterback early in the 2022 NFL Draft

After a third of the games from the 2021-22 NFL season have been played, some teams have emerged as potential candidates to take a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft. Some of the teams were expected to be in the quarterback market before the season even started. Others on this list were fringe candidates to join in needing a quarterback depending on the development of their current starter. Then there are a few teams that have shockingly joined the group.

A third of the league should be uncomfortable with their current or long-term quarterback situation. It can be narrowed down to nine teams that could take a quarterback early in the 2022 NFL Draft. Not all ten teams will take a quarterback in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, as the class could see just a few go in the first round this coming April. There may be ten quarterbacks drafted in this entire 2022 NFL Draft.

The 2022 NFL Draft quarterback class hasn’t been overly exciting. It is nothing like the 2017, 2018, 2020, or 2021 classes. As it currently stands there is no alpha quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft class. If there was it would be comparable to the 2019 draft class that had one alpha quarterback in Kyler Murray. At the conclusion of this year, the 2022 NFL Draft class may be compared to the 2016 and 2014 NFL Draft classes. In both of those years, there were plenty of non-quarterback prospects that were graded higher than a lot of the class’ top quarterbacks. However, due to the importance of the position and team needs, quarterbacks were selected early in those drafts.

Here are the nine teams who could take a quarterback in the first or second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
