Cincinnati RB Jerome Ford dominated in the Bearcats win over UCF, and is a name to monitor for the 2022 NFL Draft.

It was another big week for the Cincinnati Bearcats, as they held on to their number three ranking in the country, dominating the UFC Knights 56-21. The defense got involved with a Coby Bryant pick six, but the majority of the damage was done on the ground, as quarterback Desmond Ridder had a pedestrian day. The real big day came from running back Jerome Ford, who should be getting more attention when it comes to the 2022 NFL Draft.

Ford rushed for 189 yards on 20 carries and scored four times in the win over UCF. His big run of the day was a 79 yard scamper for a score, where he showed off the tail lights as well as his impressive burst and long speed. He has the build at 5’11” and 215 pounds to be an every down back, and the receiving upside is there, despite just one catch for 23 yards on the day.

The Alabama transfer was getting much time with the Crimson Tide, and after Gerrid Doaks left for the draft last spring, Ford had a great opportunity in front of him to take the reigns in Cincinnati and he has done just that. His total from today brings the season stat line to 102 carries for 705 yards and 12 touchdowns, in addition to 6.9 yards per carry.

The 2022 NFL Draft is going to feature plenty of running backs to take on day two and day three, as there isn’t some surefire superstar that goes on day one. The options will be plentiful for running backs that can contribute, and there’s no reason that Jerome Ford can’t be one of those guys. He will definitely be one to watch as Cincinnati’s dream season rolls on, and a playoff game to show his skills against top competition would be huge.
