2022 NFL Draft Prospects to Watch: Kentucky vs. Georgia
Georgia LB Adam Anderson
Adam Anderson may technically be listed as a linebacker, but Georgia deploys him often as an edge rusher. And what an edge rusher he is. Anderson will likely be a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Physically, he could be described as a freak. Not only is he tall and lean (6’5” 230) but he’s long too (34-inch arms), which is an underrated characteristic when evaluating pass rushers.
Speed and quickness are Adam Anderson’s bread and butter. Georgia would frequently line him up at left defensive end, and more than once I saw him explode out of his three-point stance and blast around the right tackle’s outside shoulder, meeting the quarterback at the top of his drop. It often happened so fast that the quarterback was shocked that he was getting tackled that quickly and sometimes fumbled the ball.
While it is that portion of Anderson’s game that excites scouts for the 2022 NFL Draft, he’s shown that he’s not a one-trick pony when rushing the passer. In addition to his speed, Adam Anderson has shown he possesses the pliability to bend his body a la Von Miller as he makes his way around the corner to the quarterback. He’s also demonstrated a few different moves to counter his speed rush like a spin-move, rip-move, chuck-move, and swim-move. Georgia will probably experiment a bit more with how they use him as the season goes along as he’s been deployed in a two-point stance, on the left and right side, and as an extra blitzer.
The senior from Rome, GA, is coming off a season where he tallied 6.5 sacks, and he’s already recorded four sacks through five games this year. Although he’s a bit light for the NFL at 230 and hasn’t been asked to the play the run in Athens, his otherworldly athletic ability and superior pass rushing skills could have him getting selected in the top half of the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
