2022 NFL Draft players to watch: Offensive Tackle Rasheed Walker

The redshirt junior has been high on draft boards since the offseason and is still projected to go in the first or second round, according to most mocks. Going up against a highly touted Hawkeye defense in one of the most anticipated matchups of the year gives Walker a chance to showcase what he can do to the college football world.

Despite being listed at 6’6, 320 pounds, Walker moves very well for a tackle. He’s great at getting out of his stance and attacking opposing defenders quickly. One of the biggest concerns scouts have about bigger tackles at the NFL level is their ability to handle speed rushers. This shouldn’t be much of a problem for Walker, as he seems to consistently secure a good position on opposing rushers. Walker likely won’t run a jaw-dropping 40-time, but he is quick on his feet, and that’s what matters most for an offensive tackle.

Walker’s movement skills give him a high ceiling, but he gets beat a tad more than you’d typically want from a potential first-round pick. Walker’s elite mobility for a player his size still hasn’t translated to the consistency scouts would hope for.

Although Walker’s physical tools are very apparent, his film and consistency are still getting there. A strong performance against a dangerous Iowa defense would go a long way for his draft stock.

Current projection: Late 1st-early 2nd round
