Round 5, 177th Overall: Will McDonald, EDGE, Iowa State

Do the Pittsburgh Steelers need help on the edge? Not necessarily, especially if they bring back Melvin Ingram for another season to work with T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. For now though, we work under the assumption that this doesn’t happen.

He may be undersized, but Cyclones rusher Will McDonald is a player who has the quick get-off and bend to win on the outside track. McDonald has good hand usage as well and can win with an inside move. He would add to the strength that is the Steelers defensive line.

Round 6, 221st Overall: Jaquarii Roberson, WR, Wake Forest

It wouldn’t be a Steelers mock draft without a wide receiver in the mix. It’s possible that Juju Smith-Schuster and James Washington are out this offseason, leaving a talented duo of Claypool and Johnson. Finding a good third receiver for Strong to work with makes sense here, and the pick is Wake Forest’s Jaquarii Roberson.

Roberson has the straight line speed, short area burst, and explosion to be a deep threat at the next level. He’s someone who can work out of the slot and on the perimeter to help stretch the field.

Round 7, 229th Overall: Isaiah Pola-Mao, S, USC

A versatile defender who can help the Pittsburgh Steelers secondary, Isaiah Pola-Mao could take on a few different roles for the Steelers. His range, long arms, and transitions make him a perfect fit to play deep in coverage, but he could also get some reps in the slot and off-coverage on the perimeter as a corner. The Steelers could use that versatility in a secondary that needs playmakers, and Pola-Mao can be that in the 2022 NFL Draft.
