Minnesota Vikings 2022 mock draft

2. Nik Bonitto, EDGE, Oklahoma

I thought the Minnesota Vikings might really prioritize the edge position in the 2021 NFL Draft, but they did not go that route at all.

Considering it wasn’t the strongest EDGE class, that wasn’t entirely surprising.

With that being said, it’s got to be back on the radar for the 2022 NFL Draft and in this particular scenario, the Minnesota Vikings come away with an absolute steal.

Lately, Nik Bonitto has been gaining a lot of first-round steam. He’s got plenty of burst off the edge but has done some good work early this season dropping into coverage as well.

In just two games, he’s got 2.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery.

He’s showing outstanding burst off the edge and the ability to play the run as well as the pass.

The Vikings need some more pop off the edge and Bonitto can provide that. Right now, he seems to be trending more toward the first-round range, so getting him in the early portion of the second round seems rather generous.

If he continues to make the impact he’s been making for the Sooners through two games, he will go way higher.
