Minnesota Vikings 2022 Mock Draft

1. Malik Willis, QB, Liberty

Using the 2022 NFL Mock Draft simulator, the Minnesota Vikings come away from round one with one of the most exciting prospects in college football right now — Liberty QB Malik Willis.

Willis is not unanimously considered a top-10 player at the moment, but he’s certainly built up quite a bit of steam in that direction.

Pro Football Focus’ Mike Renner pegged him as the top overall pick just a couple of weeks ago.

Although there are definitely things that differentiate the two players, it stands to reason that if you loved Trey Lance coming out in the 2021 NFL Draft, you might also love Malik Willis.

There is no better dual-threat quarterback in this class and Willis is an absolutely dynamic talent with the ball in his hands, whether throwing or running.

He’s really done a great job of refining his game as a passer since transferring over to Liberty, and his ability to make plays on the move could bode really well for fitting into the Klint Kubiak offense.

Similar to the way the 49ers stuck with a high-priced veteran in 2021 and moved up to draft Lance anyway, could we see the Minnesota Vikings give Kirk Cousins one more go at it while drafting his replacement in 2022?

It would be interesting if this situation were to present itself, that’s for certain.
