Week one of the NFL just concluded, so it’s time for some overreactions. The New York Giants lead some darkhorse contenders for the #1 pick in 2022.

Week one of the 2021 NFL season has come and gone, which means it’s time to overreact. Aaron Rodgers is washed up and doesn’t care, the Buffalo Bills are phonies, the Houston Texans are an offensive juggernaut, and the New York Giants are now contenders for the number one pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Okay, let’s settle down.

Hot takes from week one aside, there might be some overreacting worth reading into, at least for the time being.

That’s what we do — project things, right?

Looking ahead at the remaining 16 games on every team’s schedule, it’s impossible to know which teams will be most drastically impacted by injuries, which teams will emerge and be much tougher than anticipated, and which rosters will underachieve and do much worse than we thought.

With that being said, there were a number of contenders for the top pick heading into the 2021 season. Namely:

  • Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Houston Texans
  • Detroit Lions
  • New York Jets

To name a few, anyway.

After one week of the 2021 season, some of those teams remain the favorites to land the top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, but other names might be joining them as well.

Let’s take a look through three teams to watch.
