Oklahoma State OL Josh Sills

An offensive lineman who has played a lot of guard, Josh Sills has the size and physical profile of a tackle. He’s a hulking 6’6” 324 and has long arms, which are well-suited to pass blocking. Due to injuries, he stepped in and played one game at left tackle and four games at right tackle in 2020 for the Cowboys, and that versatility should serve him well moving forward.

The road to Stillwater has been a long and winding one for Josh Sills, as he began his career at West Virginia with a redshirt year in 2016. He then played nearly every game for the Mountaineers in the ensuing two years before hurting his shoulder and missing almost all of 2019. Entering the transfer portal, Sills made his way to Oklahoma State and had a terrific season in 2020, playing the most snaps of any offensive lineman on the team and securing Associated Press first team All-Big 12 honors.

When it comes to skills, Sills does a tremendous job finishing his blocks and bowling over defenders in the run game, as he led Oklahoma State linemen with 35 knockdowns in 2020. His length allows him to keep defenders at bay and prevent them from getting into his chest plate and gaining leverage on him.

He’s not the most agile blocker, so he probably fits better in a power run scheme where he doesn’t have to make long reach blocks on defenders that aren’t lined up directly over him. Josh Sills plays in a fast-paced offense for the Cowboys, which is a plus because a lot of NFL teams and their offensive styles are trending that way. But it’s also a negative as that type of offense has papered over some of his shortcomings as a lineman. If Sills has a great 2020 and shows some improvement, he should hear his name called during the 2022 NFL Draft.
