2022 NFL mock draft: Picks 7-9

Ohio State. player. 28. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 7. WR. Chris Olave

In building this receiving core, the Raiders have added someone who can really stretch the field with blazing speed in Henry Ruggs, now it’s time to add someone who can just be dependable to be sure-handed and separate consistently and that’s Chris Olave.

Olave is an excellent route-runner, as he’s smooth, very quick in and out of his breaks, and is capable of winning on routes to all levels of the field.  Also, his hands are as dependable as it gets, as he simply just catches everything with grasp.

He is someone who could have been a first-rounder had he entered last year’s draft, however, he made the decision to come back to the Buckeyes for his senior year and will have an opportunity to really boost his draft stock.

Scouting Report. S. Kyle Hamilton. 8. player. 31. Pick Analysis. Notre Dame

The Giants have built a pretty good defense, however, they still have a need at safety which only gets bigger with Jabrill Peppers being a free agent this offseason.

Kyle Hamilton is an intriguing player that every defensive coordinator would love to have on their defense.  His primary position is safety but he’s someone who lines up all over the field and makes an impact in a variety of ways.

Hamilton has the physical traits with good speed, height, and length, but what separates him from most safeties are his instincts, he simply just has a nose for the football that most players don’t have.

9. Edge. Drake Jackson. USC. player. 44. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

With the Falcons in a rebuilding stage, they should be taking the approach of adding as much talent as possible with their picks, particularly at positions of need, and edge rusher is certainly a need.

Drake Jackson checks a lot of the boxes of what you want in a first-round edge rusher.  He’s very projectable as a pass rusher as he has good size, length, athleticism, and strength, in addition, he’s got a lot of experience as he’s played a lot of snaps since his arrival at USC.
