2022 NFL Draft: QBs soaring and sliding after week one
3. Malik Willis, Liberty
Stock: SOLID
Coming into the 2021 season, I would say expectations for Malik Willis are pretty unanimously high.
After transferring from Auburn, Willis burst onto the scene in the 2020 season at Liberty as arguably the best dual-threat quarterback in the country with 20 passing touchdowns and 14 rushing touchdowns last season.
In a game against Campbell, it’s safe to say that Willis was as-advertised, or against this level of competition, about exactly as he should have been.
He completed over 65 percent of his throws with some really nice deep passes and showed off his wheels as a runner, throwing for 217 yards (10.3 air yards per attempt) and a touchdown along with running for 55 yards and a score.
Again, against this level of competition, that is just about what we would have expected from Willis.
A relative walk in the park for the potential first-round quarterback.
This game didn’t move the needle, but it certainly didn’t do anything to take away from the potential that he could go very high in the 2022 NFL Draft.
