Round 2: Sevyn Banks, CB, Ohio State

The corner position is a serious issue for the Cincinnati Bengals, and one that really is keeping the defense from being a solid unit overall. After letting William Jackson III depart in free agency, the Bengals brought it a lot of castoffs at the position. Former Vikings corner Trae Waynes and former Cowboys corner Chidobe Awuzie are the current projected starters, with guys like Mike Hilton and Eli Apple sitting behind them.

Luckily for the Bengals, the 2022 NFL Draft could be fantastic at the corner position. There are eight or nine players in many top 50 boards around the draft community, and an early pick in the second round could land one of those players.

Sevyn Banks is the selection here for the Bengals. Banks is the next in a long line of corners to come from Ohio State in recent years, and has a chance to vault himself firmly into first round conversation. He needs a big season though, as there have been inconsistencies to this point.

Banks has the size, physicality at the line of scrimmage, and versatility to play inside or outside in man coverage. Improving at finding the ball and at the top of stems would go a long way to ease some concerns, but he could come in and potentially be the top corner in the room from day one.
