The Denver Broncos picked Teddy Bridgewater as their starting quarterback for the 2021 season. Teams should be calling about Drew Lock’s availability.

The Denver Broncos have made a decision at the quarterback position, sending their fan base into a frenzy. The Broncos and head coach Vic Fangio have made the decision to move on from former second-round pick Drew Lock at the starting quarterback position in favor of former first-round pick Teddy Bridgewater, who was acquired the day before the 2021 NFL Draft.

Although the Denver Broncos certainly have no obligation at this point to trade Drew Lock, it would probably be the best move for both parties to do so sooner rather than later.

In the event that Drew Lock is traded, the Broncos could look into options like Nick Foles or maybe Gardner Minshew as backup options to Teddy Bridgewater on the trade market, but it makes little sense to keep Lock just to sit on the bench when you clearly just threw in the towel on his future with the team.

With all of that being said, which teams would make the most sense to acquire Drew Lock in a trade?

Let’s take a look.

3 teams that should trade for Drew Lock

1. Minnesota Vikings

Drew Lock had an outstanding preseason outing against the Minnesota Vikings just a couple of weekends ago, including two touchdown passes and one of them an 80-yard bomb to second-year receiver KJ Hamler.

The Denver Broncos had Rich Scangarello as an offensive coordinator when they drafted Lock in 2019, and the Klint Kubiak offense in Minnesota is obviously going to be cut from the same Shanahan/Kubiak cloth.

This could be a more ideal offense for Lock to minimize some of his weaknesses with more play-action and run-action to get him outside the pocket and more time to scan the field.

The Vikings’ current situation with Kirk Cousins seems murky beyond 2021, and their current backup is Jake Browning, who is nowhere near the playmaker or option off the bench that Drew Lock would be.

Yes, the Vikings have Kellen Mond, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try and invest in Lock now and see if he could provide you with an option next year.
