2022 NFL Draft: Sam Howell on top of NFL preseason mock draft
The Cincinnati Bengals have made enough additions on both sides of the ball over the past couple of offseasons that I almost tend to think of them in 2021 the same way I did the Washington Football Team in 2020.
I don’t see how they will be picking this high in 2022 barring a complete collapse or another injury to Joe Burrow.
The Bengals, at worst, strike me as a 7 or 8 win team.
With that being said, if they are in this slot, would they make it three straight years with the best prospect from the LSU Tigers program?
In this case, they do.
Derek Stingley Jr. has had a similar arc at LSU to that of Pat Surtain II at Alabama, in that he was absolutely dominant from the moment he stepped on campus.
He wasn’t quite as good in 2020 as he was in 2019, but expectations are very high for him for a reason.
He has the size, athleticism, ball skills, quick feet, and ability to mirror receivers and stay disciplined to really earn that coveted “shutdown” label at the cornerback position.
After going Joe Burrow in 2020 and Ja’Marr Chase in 2021, I’m sure the Cincinnati Bengals would love to be able to land another big-time LSU playmaker to fill a huge hole on defense in the 2022 NFL Draft.
