2022 NFL Draft: Sam Howell on top of NFL preseason mock draft
With three first-round picks in this mock draft scenario, the Philadelphia Eagles waste no time going after essential positions.
With their top pick, the Eagles selected Spencer Rattler who would take over as the team’s franchise QB in waiting.
Here, they get Ohio State pass rusher Zach Harrison, a guy who right now is more potential than production, but that’s not atypical when you’re talking about the constant stream of five-star recruits coming through the Ohio State program off the edge.
There were rumors leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft that the Philadelphia Eagles were interested in upgrading off the edge, possibly moving around the board to get a player they were targeting.
They still have veterans Derek Barnett and Brandon Graham coming off the edge for now, and that Josh Sweat breakout could be coming with 10 sacks in the last two seasons combined.
The Eagles added Ryan Kerrigan for some depth in 2021, but there is a chance they could go after a player like Zach Harrison if he falls this far in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He has outstanding size and length at 6-foot-6, 270 pounds, and with an increased role in 2021, he should find himself in the first round conversation.
