2022 NFL Draft: Sam Howell on top of NFL preseason mock draft
By the time this pick is made, we’ll almost undoubtedly have a new name to call the Washington Football Team.
We may also be talking about this team as one of the most aggressive in pursuit of quarterback help next offseason.
Washington has built a tremendous defense, and they really got sent over the top in 2020 with the addition of second-overall pick Chase Young out of Ohio State.
All of the hype and hyperbole surrounding Young turned out to be under-selling him if anything. He already looks like one of the premier defensive players in all of football.
Still, Washington has had to slow-play the quarterback position after the release of Dwayne Haskins last year in addition to the borderline unexpected team success they had, winning the NFC East with a 7-9 record.
That could lead to more success in 2021 with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center, but you just never know year-to-year in the NFL.
If Washington is picking this high, JT Daniels is an intriguing option. We’re projecting with many of the QBs in this mock draft because this kind of thing happens every single year. Daniels is as solid of a bet as any with his NFL tools and the situation he’s presently in at Georgia.
It was a small sample, but he did a good job last year for the Bulldogs and could be one of the top breakout candidates in all of college football this season.
If that happens, we’ll certainly be including him in plenty of mock drafts down the road.
