With multiple selections early on in this 2022 mock draft scenario thanks to their big trade with the Chicago Bears, the New York Giants have a chance to really reload their roster with some talented prospects.
After going with the best player on the board just two picks ago with Kyle Hamilton falling to number 9 overall, the Giants opt for some more defensive star power here with pick 11.
George Karlaftis had an absolutely monster 2019 season for Purdue.
As a freshman, he tallied 54 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, two passes batted, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
He only played two games in 2020, but had two sacks and two tackles for loss in those games and could be a perfect fit for Patrick Graham’s defense with the Giants.
Karlaftis has the look of a very traditional power defensive end in a four-man front, but he is athletic enough to move around the formation and kick inside on passing downs if need be.
George Karlaftis' development at @BoilerFootball has been pretty amazing. He's up to 272 lbs, yet his body fat has dropped from 25% to 15%. He power cleans 380, broad jumps 10-1 & has a 37-inch vert, but that's just the beginning of why he's such a Freak: https://t.co/f1cp1fNg1n

Karlaftis is making a tremendous impression this offseason and putting in NFL-caliber work off the field to become a top-15 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Giants need more pass rush off the edge, and the possibility of Karlaftis coming at your offensive line right next to Leonard Williams and even a player like Kyle Hamilton coming on a blitz?
There are some fun options with these two picks the Giants have in their pocket thanks to a rare Dave Gettleman draft-day trade.
