9. Kyle Hamilton, Safety, Notre Dame

The safety position is often overlooked in regards to the premium positions. This is one of the reasons why safeties are rarely taken high in the draft. For a safety to be a high draft pick, they need to be a great athlete who provides versatility. Jamal Adams is a great example. Notre Dame’s Kyle Hamilton might be the next great safety prospect drafted within the first ten picks.

Hamilton is a freak athlete who can do a lot of things on the gridiron. He can play deep in coverage or play in the box, and he’s effective in both roles. His versatility is primarily due to his physical tools. According to Irish Sports Daily, before he even played a down of college football, he had a 40 inch vertical and the fastest 10 yard split that The Rack (an athletic performance facility) had seen up to that point.

He also possesses freakish size for a safety, standing 6-feet-4-inches tall and weighing 219 pounds. That’s crazy, considering the average safety in the NFL is 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds.

Kyle Hamilton is a special athlete who has played extremely well for Notre Dame through his first two collegiate seasons. His combination of size and athleticism is rare for a safety and makes him one of the most highly coveted prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft.
