3. Philadelphia Eagles

It’s safe to say after the team decided to fire both Doug Pederson and trade Carson Wentz that Nick Sirianni is playing with a bit of house money this year in Philadelphia.

Second-round pick Jalen Hurts is one of the biggest question marks at the quarterback position league-wide, and the Eagles decided to bring in (checks notes) Joe Flacco as the primary backup?

It’s a bold strategy.

With all due respect to Flacco and even Nick Mullens, if Jalen Hurts turns out to be a liability at the QB position or if he gets hurt or anything like that, you’re really going to move forward with Joe Flacco or Nick Mullens?

If the Philadelphia Eagles decided to bring in Marcus Mariota via trade, they would be able to seamlessly transition from Hurts if need be.

Going from Hurts to Flacco or Mullens is going to require basically two completely different offensive philosophies.

Mariota would have some decent weapons to get the ball to in Philadelphia, even if some of those weapons are really young guys on the outside in Jalen Reagor and Heisman winner DeVonta Smith.

For the time being, they’ve still got both Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Miles Sanders at running back should be a dynamic playmaker as well.

This could be a solid situation for Mariota to really rebound and fully rehabilitate his value.
