Where Can Spiller Improve?

No player is without weaknesses or areas where they can improve. For Spiller, it starts with the long speed. Spiller’s burst is good, but he won’t threaten a lot of angles at the third level of the defense or maintain the speed for longer runs.

Spiller’s vision runs a little hot and cold, and often he’s more reactive than proactive as a runner between the tackles. Instead of anticipating open lanes, Spiller often reacts to lanes opening, which at NFL speed, won’t cut it nearly as often.

Becoming more involved in the passing game would be a helpful boost to Spiller’s stock for the 2022 NFL Draft. He needs to work on a route tree and creating some separation over the middle, which can be done with his footwork.

2022 NFL Draft Outlook

While Isaiah Spiller might not challenge Breece Hall for RB1 status right now, Spiller is trending in the right direction for the 2022 NFL Draft. He can be the every down back with his contact balance, footwork and flexibility. If his vision and passing game impact improve in 2021, there’s no reason he couldn’t hear his name called early on day two of the draft and become a focal point of a running game at the next level.

2021 will be a big year for Spiller in that he likely becomes the focal point on offense. How will he react to keying in on him more and an enhanced workload? It will be must see TV to find out
