1. Detroit Lions

This is perhaps the most logical destination for James Washington, and one he’d probably welcome. While the Detroit Lions aren’t near the top of the league right now and likely most challenge for the postseason, there’s a definite need at the position.

Both Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones left the Lions via free agency, and it left a group that needed serious help. Tyrell Williams and Breshad Perriman were brought in as free agents, and the Lions also drafted Amon-Ra St. Brown in the fourth round back in this past draft. Those guys join Quintez Cephus as the main returner who can provide an impact.

St. Brown could find a role in the slot, and Cephus likely sticks because of his reliability as a possession receiver. Williams and Perriman are both deep threats, but Washington would provide so much more of a jolt to that team than anyone listed above.

With the growth seen at this point, there’s little doubt Washington could challenge for the WR1 spot on this team, due to his youth and potential going forward. He can be the best deep threat on the team and give new quarterback Jared Goff a bit more confidence. It wouldn’t take much (perhaps a day three pick) to acquire Washington, so why not Detroit?
