What are the best trade destinations for Pittsburgh Steelers WR James Washington?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a tough dilemma: their wide receiver room is loaded, which means some players will struggle to see snaps, regardless of talent. One of those receivers is 2018 NFL Draft selection James Washington.

Washington put up absurd numbers in college at Oklahoma State, having three seasons above 1,000 yards receiving (along with one year above 1,500 yards) and three consecutive years of 10-plus touchdowns. He built a great rapport with fellow Steeler Mason Rudolph in his time in Stillwater, and impressed at the Senior Bowl and throughout the draft process.

Washington was a second round selection by the Steelers, and struggled a bit to start his career. He wasn’t gaining the vertical separation he did in college, and drops crept their way into his game a bit more.

Coming off 16 receptions as a rookie and heading into his second year, Washington saw marked improvement. He looked like himself much more in college, winning deep and showing off that tracking and adjustment skills that got him drafted in round two. Drops were still prevalent, but the upward progression was good to see.

Unfortunately, Washington wasn’t presented with much more of an opportunity in 2020, thanks to the Steelers selecting Chase Claypool in the second round. Claypool got a significant target share in 2020, and combined with Diontae Johnson and Juju Smith-Schuster, who is back again on a one-year deal, Washington hasn’t found a way up the depth chart.

Now, James Washington has requested to be traded. Where could the Pittsburgh Steelers end up moving him? Four teams come to mind.
