2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
This might be the first big surprise in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, especially because the Philadelphia Eagles could be looking for a new quarterback next year. Jalen Hurts is the guy right now, drafted in the second round of the 2020 draft, but he has many doubters at this point. The good news is that he has a year to prove he belongs as a starter.
Having a playmaker like Devonta Smith will only help, and if Jalen Reagor can right the ship as a second year guy, the offense could be a fun unit, provided protection can hold up. Both Smith and Reagor can win vertically, and Hurts has a surprisingly decent deep ball.
The defense is the unit that needs plenty of help. Luckily, the Eagles (likely) have three first rounders in the 2022 NFL Draft to help remedy that. Here, it starts with a corner, a position that is rife with talent. Kaiir Elam doesn’t get much talk as some others just yet, but he’s in for a big year.
At 6’2″ and 195 pounds, Elam has the prototypical size for a corner who can excel near the line of scrimmage. He’s smooth with his transitions, and is super feisty at the catch point. Elam would fit in well with Philly and provide them with a true lockdown player opposite Darius Slay.
