2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off of a brutal Super Bowl loss heading into 2021, but they’ve done all the right things. It started with the offensive line. After letting go of Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz retiring, the Chiefs made a big trade for Orlando Brown Jr., signed Joe Thuney and Kyle Long, and drafted Creed Humphrey. This revamp will make things so much better for Patrick Mahomes. They even have Lucas Niang waiting in development.
Right now, outside of corner, wide receiver might become one of their bigger weaknesses in 2022. Only Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman are under contract beyond next season, and even they will both become free agents in 2023.
If the Chiefs get a chance to draft Treylon Burks like they did in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, it’s a no-brainer. Burks brings a different profile to Kansas City. He has the size and speed to become a prototypical “X” receiver, and is physical at the top of his routes to create separation. He’s dynamic after the catch and has great body control in contested spots.
His play speed would only add to a great vertical offense, and his versatility will give the Chiefs another player to work into the jet motion. The offense would be a nightmare to defend against with Burks.
