2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
The Lions are back on the clock, thanks to the Rams and the Stafford-Goff trade. After selecting a quarterback in Strong, the Lions should move to get a playmaker for the offense.
The receiver room isn’t very good right now at all. They have Breshad Perriman and Tyrell Williams as the “X” types who double as deep threats, and a good versatile player in Quintez Cephus. They also drafted Amon-Ra St. Brown to challenge for the slot as well. Despite what looks like depth at the position, it lacks any semblance of star power. Running Back DeAndre Swift and tight end T.J. Hockenson are easily the top two threats in the passing game for the Lions at this point.
The Lions will likely be drafting a receiver at some point in the 2022 NFL Draft, and they do so here, selecting Georgia’s George Pickens. Pickens suffered an ACL tear in spring practice, which likely means he won’t return this season.
If he does decide to leave for the draft, teams will see a playmaker who has the ability to be an alpha WR1 at the next level. He’s dynamic off the line of scrimmage and has the speed to win down the field. He has great body control and attacks the ball well in the air. He’d be a great target for Strong.
