2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
The Miami Dolphins, despite giving up a pick to move up from 12 to six back in April, still have the selection from the San Francisco 49ers from their move up to select quarterback Trey Lance. Miami made two upside selections with their first rounders in 2021, selecting Jaylen Waddle to pair up with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa again and Jaelan Phillips to give a boos to the pass rush.
The Dolphins have a young duo at tackle in Austin Jackson and Liam Eichenberg, and the selection of Eichenberg lets Robert Hunt move back to guard, a more comfortable position for him. The secondary is loaded, which makes trading Xavien Howard manageable.
Really, all the Dolphins are truly missing is a lead running back to fill out the roster. Myles Gaskin and Malcolm Brown can do the job, but having a player who can create on his own outside of the scheme is a nice luxury. Breece Hall can be that for the Dolphins. Hall has great improvisational deception, great contact balance, often makes the first defender miss, and has great processing skills. He’s the clear RB1 right now in the 2022 NFL Draft, and would make the Dolphins much better on the ground.
