2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
The final pick here for the Eagles in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft goes back to the defensive side of the football. Linebacker has been ignored at a critical level in Philadelphia for some time. The hope is Philly can get something out of guys like Davion Taylor, who has great speed and athleticism, and T.J. Edwards, who plays very well downhill.
Adding even more athleticism would make sense at the position, especially in an NFL that continues to move towards the passing game and hybrid defenders. This is where the selection of DeMarvion Overshown comes in.
Overshown was recruited as a safety, and made a transition to linebacker for the Texas Longhorns last season. He earned All-Big 12 honorable mention and was the defensive MVP of the Alamo Bowl. He had 60 tackles, eight tackles for loss, a sack, and seven pass breakups. His abilities in coverage are very good, and he has the speed and athleticism to get downhill in a hurry.
He’s new to the position, but Overshown has a lot of upside and athleticism in spades to become a very good hybrid defender in the NFL. The Eagles would be a great landing spot, especially for a team that’s neglected linebacker for too long.
