2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
The Pittsburgh Steelers had an excellent first few months in 2020, but faltered too much down the stretch, losing 4 of 5 before the playoffs and falling to the Browns in the wild card round.
The defense will be strong once again in 2021, especially up front. Devin Bush returns from injury which should give the linebacker group a boost, and Minkah Fitzpatrick will once again anchor the secondary.
The issues still lie on the offensive side of the ball, and in (what is likely) Ben Roethlisberger’s final year, they need to gel, especially on the offensive line. Rookie Kendrick Green may get the opportunity to start at center, and Najee Harris could shoulder a lot of the load early on. The weapons are there though if the offense can find a rhythm.
The Steelers will likely be thinking long-term in the 2022 NFL Draft, and that likely means more focus on the offensive line, especially if they are one of the pursuers of Aaron Rodgers. This is where Zion Nelson comes in.
Nelson has great quickness and explosion out of his stance and into his sets, and has good foot quickness to mirror rushers. He flashes good ability in the run game as well to seal things off and open up holes. If Nelson can put it all together in 2020, he can solidify first round stock.
