It takes more than nailing the early picks to build a championship contender. Teams who want to build rosters capable of winning the Super Bowl need to land multiple players that contribute in almost every round of the draft over the course of a couple of seasons. There are players drafted almost every year that start for teams, make Pro Bowls, and get named All-Pro during their career that makes people question why they were drafted as low as they were or why they weren’t drafted at all.

The fair time to judge a draft selection is after the player finishes their third year in the league. That is when those in the media can determine if a player was a great value selection or a bust. The league feels similarly about this since teams must decide after a first-round player’s third season on whether to pick up their guaranteed fifth-year option or not.

What dictated the players who were selected to this list was the value the player was at their selection. So the higher a player was taken, the higher expectations will be for that player. Earlier on players who are considered elite at their positions who have All-Pro acknowledgments or Pro Bowl appearances on their resume will make this list because players selected highly are expected to be among the best in their position.

However, players selected later on have lower expectations. So if players drafted later become borderline Pro Bowlers or starting-caliber players for their team they are more likely to be considered the best player selected in their given round.

The 2018 NFL Draft was loaded with players that are considered the bright young future in the league. So far the class has been defined by the four Pro Bowl-caliber quarterbacks that went in the first round, All-Pro caliber linebackers, and deep cornerback group. Here are the best players that were drafted in each round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
