We are now seven weeks away from college football action in the 2021-22 season. So it seems like a fitting time to highlight some playmakers to look out for this upcoming season and the 2022 NFL Draft. One guy that should be on everyone’s radar is the next Alabama lead back Brian Robinson Jr. Robinson did get much attention last season while playing for the Crimson Tide last year because of the recent first-round selection Najee Harris, but has a lot of promise to turn heads this season.

While being Najee Harris’s understudy last season Brian Robinson Jr. racked up 483 yards and six touchdowns during the 2020-21 college season. similar to Harris, Robinson is a bigger back standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing around 230 pounds. Robinson showed great power in his runs last year by always keeping his feet moving once contact was initiated. Even though the senior running back is not a burner up the field he does not lack explosiveness in his game for the Bama back showed the ability to make quick cuts at the line of scrimmage.

Robinson Jr. and Najee Harris were not your typical running back duo last season. Many times you see a thunder and lighting duo in the backfields of teams. At Alabama last season it was just one big thunderstorm charging out of the backfield between the two running backs. Robinson is great at keeping his stride upward and pushing forward which is crucial in goal-line situations.

Even though Robinson is a nose-forward runner, Robinson Jr. showed great patience at the line of scrimmage to make quick jump cuts with his impressive footwork to get upfield.

The common stereotype for power backs on any level of competition is catching ability. Robinson should much comfortability in catch the ball when asked to or on simple check downs. Has great vision up the field to make proper adjustments in his runs to gain a head of steam moving north. Robinson also showed the ability to be good in pass production on weak side blitzes and should not be an issue for the Bama running back at the next level.

Every single season it seems that Alabama has an elite wide receiver to go along with an elite running back to hold help improve the passing game. Brian Robinson Jr. will be entering his fourth season with the Crimson Tide and has the opportunity to rise on 2022 NFL Draft boards.

With the powerful frame, Robinson was blessed with and great technique to complement his patience running ability all make for Brian Robinson Jr to shine as an elite playmaker this season.
