2022 NFL Draft: Is Iowa State RB Breece Hall the preseason RB1?
The 2022 NFL Draft process is getting underway, and with it right now comes summer scouting. It’s a great time to familiarize oneself with the next wave of prospects. The next couple of weeks here at NFL Mocks focuses on the playmakers: running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends.
While the 2021 draft had a near-consensus RB1 in Alabama’s Najee Harris, the 2022 NFL Draft might have one as well.
The Iowa State Cyclones have another very good back ready for the 2022 NFL Draft after David Montgomery a couple seasons ago in Breece Hall.
Hall was a four star recruit out of high school by 247Sports and was ranked as the seventh running back in the nation and the number two player out of Kansas. As a senior in high school, Hall scored 29 touchdowns and ran for 2,127 yards. In his freshman season, Hall rushed for 897 yards on 186 carries, good for 4.8 yards per carry. He scored nine touchdowns on the ground, and caught 23 passes and another touchdown.
The 2020 season was a special one for Hall. In addition to leading the Cyclones to a Fiesta Bowl appearance and win, Hall led the nation in rushing with 1,572 yards in 12 games, and scored 25 total touchdowns, 23 of which were on the ground. He scored a touchdown in every game he played, the first to achieve that since LaDainian Tomlinson. His unbelievable season landed him first-team All-American honors, and the first player in Iowa State history to be a unanimous All-American. Not to mention, Hall also was sixth in Heisman Trophy voting.
How does Breece Hall‘s game stack up as we prepare for the 2022 NFL Draft? Let’s dive in with his scouting report.
