2022 NFL mock draft: Texans pass on QB in QB-heavy predictions
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are apparently not favored to repeat as Super Bowl champions again this season despite bringing back pretty much every player from last year’s team.
I’m not so sure they shouldn’t be 32nd on every mock draft until proven otherwise, but that’s an argument for another post. We didn’t pick the order.
The Bucs’ roster is an impressive combination of future Hall of Famers as well as young, up-and-coming stars in the league.
Where does this team lack for the future? They certainly don’t have many pressing areas of need right now, but wide receiver could be a need beyond this season.
Mike Evans, a model of consistency, is shockingly still just 27 years old at the time this is being written. Chris Godwin is a free agent after the season but you have to think the Bucs will find a way to bring him back.
Even so, this team is going to utilize a lot of 3WR sets, and a player like George Pickens is a fun dart throw here. It will be interesting to see if he actually comes back to play this season after getting hurt in the offseason, but there’s no doubt about what this guy can do when he is healthy.
In two seasons, he has 85 receptions and 14 of those have gone for touchdowns. His combination of size, length, long speed, and playmaking ability at the catch point all scream WR1 to me.
