2022 NFL mock draft: Texans pass on QB in QB-heavy predictions
The Detroit Lions started off this mock draft scenario passing on the quarterback position, but this is a dart throw I don’t think GM Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell could pass on here.
Desmond Ridder is one of the most exciting players in college football at the quarterback position.
The true definition of dual-threat, Ridder has a big arm and was one of the nation’s leaders in 2020 with 12 rushing touchdowns at the quarterback position.
Ridder’s inconsistency with accuracy could lead to a slide down the draft board, though I’m personally prepared for him to go either way. He makes some throws where you wonder if he might be considered a top-10 pick when all is said and done.
Given his size at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, and combination of arm talent and flat-out speed at the QB position, this would be a great pick for Detroit which will have at least one more season of Jared Goff in this case.
If the Lions are so bad to get the 2nd overall pick in the draft, Goff will definitely have something to do with that.
Just to reiterate that.
If Ridder is available to Detroit with this pick acquired by the Rams, they would be silly not to consider that.
This scenario presents Detroit with a high-upside dual-threat option and a guy that NFL coaches and execs are probably going to fall in love with as a person.
