2022 NFL mock draft: Texans pass on QB in QB-heavy predictions
2022 NFL mock draft: 26th pick
All eyes will be on the Green Bay Packers in the coming weeks as it relates to quarterback and league MVP Aaron Rodgers.
Whether or not the Packers decide they are going to trade Aaron Rodgers, they are going to be needing to add more at the wide receiver position.
Frankly, one of the most stunning statistics you will ever see is the fact that Rodgers has thrown a touchdown pass to just one first-round draft pick in his entire career, that player being reserve tight end Marcedes Lewis.
It’s not that the Packers have had bad play at the wide receiver position. Davante Adams has done pretty well for himself as a non-first-round pick.
Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb did pretty well for themselves. James Jones did pretty well for himself.
Other players have come into Green Bay and done well, but obviously, the fact that the Packers have never put a first-round receiver around Rodgers is a little shocking.
Treylon Burks would be effective no matter if he was joining the Rodgers-led Packers or the Jordan Love-led Packers. You can get him the ball just about any way and he’s going to make a play.
He had a major breakout season in 2020 with seven touchdowns and over 16 yards per reception. He also added 75 rushing yards but I’m not sure Arkansas is going to have him throwing too many passes in 2021 as he threw four in 2020 and two were picked off.
Still, this is a guy who could be Matt LaFleur’s version of a Deebo Samuel, a big YAC player NFL teams are eager to duplicate for their offenses.
