2022 NFL mock draft: Texans pass on QB in QB-heavy predictions
2022 NFL mock draft: 17th pick
Although the Los Angeles Chargers were able to replace Hunter Henry in free agency with another veteran in Jared Cook, the tight end position is one they are going to want to address after filling some gaps on the offensive line in the 2021 offseason.
The Chargers did pick up Tre’ McKitty in the 2021 NFL Draft, and they are high on the 6-foot-8 weapon Donald Parham who averaged nearly 16 yards per catch last season.
Even considering the players already on the roster, the Chargers feel like a good landing spot for Texas A&M star tight end Jalen Wydermyer.
Wydermyer has 12 touchdowns in his first 22 games at Texas A&M and is just a special all-around talent at the position.
He will have a tough time holding onto the TE1 title with Jeremy Ruckert of Ohio State and Trey McBride of Colorado State close behind, but Wydermyer is really the total package at the position and an absolute load when he gets a full head of steam.
The Chargers need to do everything possible to continue surrounding 2020 rookie of the year Justin Herbert with talent all around him.
If they can get a playmaker like this at tight end, Herbert will have a dynamic group of skill players to get the ball to.
