2022 NFL Draft Prospect: Matt Corral, Ole Miss

One of the more experienced quarterbacks in the 2022 NFL Draft class for quarterbacks, Matt Corral has 24 games played at Ole Miss under his belt going into the 2021 season. A dual-threat QB playing for Lane Kiffin, Corral could draw attention in the next year in what is sure to be an explosive offense.

Corral has shown flashes with his arm, but turnovers are a bit of a concern that he will need to overcome in 2021. During the 2020 season he threw 29 touchdowns, but also had 14 interceptions. A 2:1 ratio isn’t a great sign for translation to the NFL. However, what he can do on the ground makes him an intriguing prospect for teams to scout.

In 2020, Corral rushed for 506 yards on 112 carries, averaging 4.5 yards a rush. He also found the end zone four times and has seven career rushing touchdowns. With the NFL trending towards more hybrid quarterbacks that can throw but also run when needed, Corral could draw decent consideration. Even in the first round.

The key for him in 2021 will be to show better ball control. If he can limit his turnovers and sustain his other stats, that would be a huge step for him.
