2022 NFL Draft: 5 QBs to watch in college this upcoming season

When thinking about the 2022 NFL Draft, for those of us that already are, the amount of top tier quarterbacks that come to mind are few and far between. There really isn’t a Trevor Lawrence in this class that is the clear cut No. 1 overall pick next year.

After a draft that saw a handful of quarterbacks go in the first half of the first round, the 2022 NFL Draft could bring with it a change of pace at the position. However, we’ve said that before. We’ve even said it recently. Yet, every year there are players that emerge and grab headlines that puts quarterbacks back on top in the conversations about the draft.

At this point the list of quarterback-needy teams isn’t that long, but a lot can change in just a season. While right now we might pause when trying to think of five teams that need a quarterback next year, come the end of the 2021 season there will be plenty of teams on the list.

Whether it be through trades, free agency or poor performances, teams will see a chance to upgrade the quarterback position in the draft. Fans will be calling for it, owners pushing for it and one way or another the next wave of quarterbacks will enter the league. But who are they?

A lot can happen over the course of a season and there’s surely to be names that rise from the ranks in the coming months of the college football season. It’s happened before where a player starts for just a single season and then becomes one of the first quarterbacks off the board.

However, going into the 2021 season these five names are ones to watch. Currently they top the list of quarterback prospects and if they can put together a strong 2021 campaign, they should end up among the position’s best players in the first round conversation of the 2022 NFL Draft.
