2021 NFL Draft: Best pick by every NFC West team
Seattle Seahawks: Stone Forsythe, OT, Florida
Round 6, 208th Overall
With just three selections in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks were put in a bind. Many believed they would likely forgo some value for their needs at offensive line. After the departure of Jarran Reed, defensive line had a chance to be on the list of selections as well.
Instead, the Seahawks opted for wide receiver D’Wayne Eskridge in the second round instead. The pick drew major backlash from Seahawks fans that were hoping for a different direction. However, Eskridge has the explosiveness, toughness, and hands to be a productive NFL receiver. His release package was excellent down in Mobile and he will get a chance to make plays vertically and after the catch in Seattle’s passing game.
The best pick that Seattle made, relative to need and value, was Florida tackle Stone Forsythe. Forsythe was a late riser in the process for some, and once the draft community found about him, his stock soared to late day two range. His tape against Georgia was impressive, as he stood up Bulldogs pass rusher Azeez Ojulari in his tracks and kept him from getting any pressure. Forsythe can potentially crack the starting lineup with his rock-solid skills in pass protection, and could be the bookend opposite Duane Brown that Seattle has been looking for.
