Cleveland Browns: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame

Round 2, 52nd Overall

As mentioned earlier, the Cleveland Browns headed into the 2021 NFL Draft with a loaded roster and very few holes. The secondary was rebuilt extremely well in the offseason. Adding Troy Hill, who likely will get snaps on the perimeter and in the slot, was a big get. Then, the Browns signed John Johnson III to do plenty of work in a variety of spots. In the draft, they selected Greg Newsome II in the first round to fill the hole opposite Denzel Ward. Quickly, the secondary became a strength.

The linebacker position was another of need. Despite a good season from Jacob Phillips, and signing Anthony Walker in free agency, the Browns had a very good talent fall into their lap in the second round.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was flagged for a heart issue that caused his fall during the 2021 NFL Draft, and could be the steal of the entire draft. Owusu-Koramoah wasn’t going to be for every team playing linebacker at his size, but the Browns clearly have a plan for his role in their defense. His football IQ, closing speed, range, and skills in coverage and further bolster a pass defense that looks excellent on paper. He will likely play WILL, cover in the slot, and be a tight end eraser. Owusu-Koramoah will be a matchup guy on a very good defense in 2021.
