#2 Mike Evans WR/Tampa Bay Buccaneers ADP: 3.12

Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans is currently being drafted as if he is going to finish as the WR11, bold take considering he isn’t even the best receiver on his team.  Yup, screenshot this, Mike Evans is not the best receiver on Tampa.

That honor goes to Chris Godwin, and frankly, it isn’t close for me.  Combined with a guy like Tom Brady, who throwing it downfield isn’t his preferred method, also considering Evans wasn’t even Brady’s favorite downfield target (hey Scotty Miller), drafting him as a WR1 feels…wrong.

Watching his film from last season seemed to show a guy who wasn’t the same speed as years past.  Still, he is very talented, but not top 11 talented.

Last year, if it wasn’t for his 13 touchdowns, Evans would have had a very mediocre year for a “superstar”.  If you think I am being harsh on him, look at this stat line from one of his big games. 2 receptions, 2 yards, 2 TDs.  WHAT!?  I cannot bank on that kind of ridiculousness.

There are two Mike Evans’.  The first is great, he averages 7.5rec, 129yds, and 1TD.  He appeared four times.  Then there is the hyper touchdown-reliant vanishing act of a player who averages 3 receptions and 40 yards.

That guy appeared 12 times, including twice when he had 2 catches, and one week where he had 1 catch.  Instead of burning a key turn pick on Evans and his 4 good games a season, look at guys like Terry McLaurin, Allen Robinson, and Robert Woods.

Evans is a boom or bust WR2/high-end flex.
