Ouch, tough article for CEH.  In my last article, I listed Patrick Mahomes as someone being drafted too early at the QB position and now I have turned my sights to his backfield mate.

Mahomes, funny enough, is being drafted a few spots ahead of CEH, but I digress.

Coming out of LSU, Edwards-Helaire was a part of the most dominant college team in recent memory, but was it because of him they were dominant?  Not really.  His combine numbers were concerning, particularly the 4.60 time he posted for his 40-yard dash.

He lacks straight-line speed, but his lateral quickness isn’t elite by any means, so he isn’t even making up the difference in that department.  He is a decent pass catcher, but nothing special, overall that is and has been my assessment of him.  He’s fine, but there are certainly better players.

He doesn’t seem like the guy you want to helm your backfield 90% of the time, he’s a committee guy, so the 3rd round?  Ahead of guys like Allen Robinson, Terry McLaurin, and Miles Sanders? No way.

CEH is going to struggle to break the top 15 this year.  Again, it’s a deep group of backs.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up sitting outside the top 20.  Remember, this is the Chiefs, they aren’t handing the ball off much.  Mahomes will have the ball in his hands as much as possible.

If you waited until this point to take your first RB, well you might just be better off waiting a while longer.  There are far better players on the board for a while before I would take Edwards-Helaire.
