2. The New York Giants select Kadarius Toney 20th overall

I am sorry New York, I do not mean to pick on you but both New York teams could regret their 2021 first-round picks. When it comes to the Kadarius Toney pick, the issue is not with Toney.

Toney showed at Florida, he is an exciting player. He posted 1,145 yards from scrimmage and 11 total touchdowns last season. One of Toney’s biggest strengths is his versatility.

"Playing multiple positions in the Gators’ scheme, he has experienced playing time at various different spots. His versatility has shined during each season, as he has a game that stretches well beyond those boundaries. As an ultimate chess piece, Toney can be used as a decoy to open things up for his counterpart. -Jordan Reid, Senior NFL Draft Analyst at The Draft Network"

Toney’s strengths as a player are the Giant’s offensive coordinator Jason Garrett’s biggest weakness. In an article from ESPN Staff Writer Jordan Raanan, Dan Orlovsky, former NFL QB, and current ESPN Analyst explain Garrett’s offensive play-calling as “boring.”

"Their offense is so boring. There is such a demand to be perfect with your execution, not only for [Jones] but everybody. There are no easy throws. No easy throws. They’re very static and stagnant. There is very little use of motion to attack and gain impact. Dan Orlovsky, ESPN"

Raanan’s article also shows a statistic from ESPN’s Video Tracking Team, the Giants ranked 28th in the NFL last season only using motions on only 5.9% of their offensive plays. (Raanan) Toney is a really good draft prospect and can be a true human joystick, sadly we might never see Toney scratch the surface of his potential in a Jason Garrett offense.
