3) Justin Herbert QB/ LA Chargers

Justin Herbert burst onto the scene last year. The guy was electric, bottom line. However, there is a reason to worry and I point to the New England Patriots game last year when Herbert was essentially rendered a non-factor.

His stats from that game were terrible, 26 of 53 passing, 209 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 INT.  What went wrong?

Basically, the Patriots dropped into two-deep coverage and Herbert couldn’t find another way to move the ball.  Going at 5.06 ahead of established heavyweights like Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and Matt Stafford, I just don’t love the idea of a second-year QB in a brand new system who hasn’t shown that he can truly read a defense at this level going that high.

If I am picking a quarterback I usually wait until the double-digit rounds where I can grab a guy like Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, or even Jameis Winston (assuming he wins the starting job).

When drafting a QB just take a guy who throws it a billion times a game and you should be fine. By the way, Ryan Tannehill isn’t going until the 9th, so that’s something to think about.

Herbert will have his good days, but I see them being too infrequent to feel comfortable that he can deliver the chip you desire. *Force wave* This is not the QB you’re looking for.

Fantasy football isn’t an exact science, so take this as a suggestion more than a fact. But, that’s the fun isn’t it? We all like to believe we know what will happen, but once it goes live anything can happen.
