Aaron Rodgers trade haul from Broncos could have been great
Players coming back
The Denver Broncos would not be able to get a deal done for Aaron Rodgers without sending back at least a couple of players who have established themselves and are ideally on their rookie contracts.
A couple of defensive players that would have made a ton of sense would be pass rusher Bradley Chubb or interior defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones, who had a breakout sophomore campaign for the Broncos in 2020.
Assuming the Packers would have the choice to pick between the two, you would have to think they would choose the former top-five pick in Chubb who plays the more valuable position.
In addition to getting a defensive stud like Chubb, the Packers would likely get some QB insurance from the Broncos in the form of Drew Lock or Teddy Bridgewater. Lock has higher upside, two years left on his deal, and is cheaper. The Packers also apparently really liked Lock in the 2019 NFL Draft process.
The Packers also would likely ask for at least one more player that could contribute right away, and perhaps a player like inside linebacker Alexander Johnson, right guard Graham Glasgow, or left guard Dalton Risner would interest Green Bay.
