The 40th overall pick

Had the Packers struck this pre-draft trade with the Denver Broncos, they could have used the 40th overall selection to fortify their offensive line.

They used their late-second round pick on Ohio State center Josh Myers, and assuming that was Plan A for Green Bay, a player like Liam Eichenberg as a right tackle option at 40th overall would have been really solid.

If not Eichenberg, Samuel Cosmi was also still on the board here. Both Eichenberg and Cosmi played left tackle in college and could have filled in there if need be with David Bakhtiari also out of OTAs recovering from a knee injury.

Having one of these guys as temporary left tackle insurance and as a long-term option at right tackle would have been great for Green Bay in addition to getting someone like Myers — one of the top interior prospects in the class — to replace the departed big-money free agent Corey Linsley.

If not offensive line here, one of the top interior defensive linemen in the class went just one pick after this selection to the Detroit Lions. Levi Onwuzurike could have been a tremendous addition to the Green Bay Packers’ defensive front with this pick.

One way or another, the Packers could have used the second-round picks to upgrade the trenches on either side of the ball.
