Kansas City Chiefs: Creed Humphrey, C, Oklahoma

Round 2, 63rd Overall

After another phenomenal season for the Chiefs, the only thing on the mind of the organization was to repeat. They nearly did, but missing their top two tackles hurt them down in Tampa, and Patrick Mahomes ran for his life all game long in a 31-9 defeat.

The priority heading into the offseason was fixing the offensive line. Kansas City released Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher in the offseason, so a major rebuild was necessary. They first brought in guard Joe Thuney on a big time deal, and signed Kyle Long, who had spent some time away from football. Not long before the 2021 NFL Draft, the Chiefs struck again, trading for Baltimore Ravens tackle Orlando Brown.

The Chiefs had enough day two draft capital to strike again on the offensive line, this time at center. Many draft analysts had Creed Humphrey as the top center in the class, and he fell all the way to the 63rd pick. His power at the point of attack and anchor are excellent, and he handled the top interior rushers down in Mobile. He has the mentality of a finisher and should be a fantastic pass protector in a phone booth for Mahomes, displaying enough lateral movement skills to handle quicker defensive tackles.
